I'm Kathryn Koch (I go by Katie), a licensed attorney admitted to practice in Washington since 2021. I am a graduate of the University of Washington School of Law and Boston University. A native of Louisville, Kentucky, I've called Washington home since 2013. I live in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood with my husband of 14 years and our three-year-old son.
I help Washington families and individuals with estate planning, estate administration, and legal needs relating to end-of-life care and planning. I specialize in protecting vulnerable adults and creating simplified, affordable legal solutions for the middle class.
Everyone dies, and if we're lucky, we get to experience old age. But our society doesn't make it easy. My law practice is dedicated to providing my clients with compassionate support and savvy, practical guidance as they navigate the legal challenges of aging.
Knowing that my practice involves the subjects you're not supposed to talk about at parties--death, taxes, and family secrets--I treat my work and my clients with care. I approach delicate legal situations with tact, directness, a nonjudgmental attitude, occasional humor, and respect for the lived experience of my clients. I use active listening and motivational interviewing to get to the heart of my what clients want and need, and I do my best to make it happen. I believe 90% of the practice of law is listening, and the other 10% is paperwork.
